"Books and Brownies with the Author" Event
Hosted By: Pastor Oliver Carter with No Limits Outreach Ministry (8/30/26)
This past Sunday, I had the opportunity of hosting a "Books and Brownies with the Author" event at No Limits Outreach Ministry. My husband, mom and I arrived an hour prior to the start of worship and was greeted by Ms. Sophia, the Children's Church Ministry Leader. She showed us to the Children's Church room and we began to set up.
I was so excited for the event that I totally forgot to purchase the "Brownies" portion of the event! 🤦🏽♀️ What would I do without my support system? Mr. Craney hurried to the nearest store to grab some treats and water while my mom and I continued to set up my table. Even though it wasn't a vendor event, I still wanted to display my books and rainbow accessories for the kiddies.
Mr. Craney came back with treats just in time for the start of service. I quickly set up the treats table and we made our way to our seats. Sunday Service was in full force! The worship leader opened with congregational prayer and moved into praise and worship. I was so moved by the Spirit that I was in tears. We moved into announcements and they acknowledged us as guests for the Children's Church Interactve Reading Event. My mom and I made our way to Children's Church with the kids and Ms. Sophia. Mr. Craney stayed behind to enjoy the rest of service.
We only had a few kids present but they made a huge impact on me! We opened with me introducing myself as the author and the kids told me their names and ages. We then held hands and had a moment of prayer then began our lesson.
I continued to explain to them that God made us all different and unique in our own way but we make something beautiful when we all came together. Next we took turns reading the story and stopped for questions and answers along the way.
It was a pleasant surprise that the youngest child in the class understood what made one of the characters different as we discussed the Colors Found in the Story. We then concluded the story and lesson time by discussing the Talk it Through questions found in the back of story.
We handed out treats, stickers, coloring pages and rainbow pencils and continued our conversation while coloring and snacking. Even the adults colored!
The event was right on time considering it was the beginning of the school year just like the characters in my book! I had such a great time with the Children of No Limits Outreach Ministry and was asked to come back later this year. I'm looking forward to it!
A huge thanks to Pastor Oliver Carter and First Lady Pamelia Carter! They are a kind, loving and generous church family!
Stay Tuned and Happy Reading!
