"Bowie International Festival"
Hosted By: The City of Bowie, MD (9/12/26)
Bowie International Festival
The days leading up to the festival were filled with excitement and a lot of folks asking "isn't it supposed to rain on Saturday?" Which I loving replied, if it does rain it will, after 3pm when the festival is over, in the name of Jesus!
Saturday finally came and it was a beautiful sunny day! The grass was still wet from either dew or the previous day's rain. Whatever the case it was nice and dry just like I prayed for.
The festival was held at the popular landmark, Allen Pond Park in Bowie, MD. The Bowie City team is as professional and organized as they come. Each member had their walkie, informing the next group that each vendor had arrived and they would direct us to our space along the path at Allen Pond Park. We had to be there to set up between 8 and 9am. Even though the festival did not start until 11am,
we were directed to our area and started setting up. We forgot our chairs, so Mr. Craney had to go back home to grab them while my mom and I continued to set up. This was my first attempt at setting up a tent and it showed. Thank God for nice people in the world. My vendor neighbor was so helpful and helped me set up my tent and 2 park police officers helped me move it into place. I was too excited and couldn't wait for Mr. Craney to return. Lol
After set up, we were able to go around and visit other vendor tables. There were vendors from various cultures and backgrounds represented at the festival. We met a family that was from the Tuscarora Tribe, who later performed a native dance. There were vendors selling handmade crotchet animals, beaded jewelry, afro-centric handbags, healthy herbal drinks, churches inviting people to worship service. The list went on!
I had several conversations with people and families from all walks of life. Most of them didn't realize there was a festival going on until they arrived. It was great sharing what God birthed in me with others.
I also think my new 8ft banner really piqued the attention of passersby, wondering why the family members in the picture were all different colors (blue, purple, yellow and brown). I loved sharing this was God's view of us and we make a beautiful rainbow together that He sees when He looks down from Heaven. Everyone really thought that was a cool and different take on the characters in my book! I told them I couldn't take the credit because this was all God's idea He placed in me. I'm simply being obedient!
I made a lot of great contacts and had the 2nd largest sales day so far! I cannot wait to participate in next year's International Festival.
Stay tuned and Happy Reading!
