Hosted By: Pastor Nate - Bus Boys and Poets (8/9/26)

I recently started posting across my social media platforms promoting my new book and website. I was tagged in a flyer by a former High School classmate and friend to join them for a Jazz Brunch. It was on a Sunday, so I was torn if I should go or not. In the end I decided to go and enjoy praising and worshiping God in a different way.

In our brief conversation, I learned that Nate is now a Pastor and left his career to spread the Word of God and use his gifts to build up God's Kingdom. He works with various organizations, many of which are with children and we both agreed this would be a great collaboration.

I arrived at Bus Boys and Poets in Washington, DC along with my husband and mom and we were quickly seated for brunch. I was able to set up a book display table next to our brunch table which was quite convenient. As the room started filling up, I was so happy to see Pastor Nate and his wife Javita! We exchanged pleasantries and they were introduced to my husband and mom.

Pastor Nate welcomed everyone to the Jazz Brunch, prayed for the event and the artists who would grace us with their talents. Praise and worship songs and dancing filled the venue. Each artist took the stage to share their gift with patrons. There was a worship dancer, a djembe drum player, a child violinist, a jazz singer, an R&B singer and myself.

We were all asked to speak, sharing briefly about ourselves and answered a few questions asked by our wonderful host Shawna Foater and Pastor Nate. I also shared that it was National Book Lovers Day! It was great to be part of such a talented group of people!

During the brunch, I had several people stop by my table to purchase books, take pictures with me and ask questions. I even had a a school teacher ask me if I would be interested in doing a speaking engagement at her church. Uh, yes. Absolutely!

It was such a wonderful experience seeing people worship in a new and different way. We are the Church is all I could think of! Wherever we go, we take Christ with us!

The Jazz Brunch Event is hosted at Bus Boys and Poets in Washington, DC SE, the 2nd Sunday of every month from 12-4pm. If you're in the area, I recommend you stop in for fellowship and some good food!

This was another successful event for There's a Promise!

It was an absolute honor to have Mrs. Cherie Craney as our vendor and esteemed guest at the Sunday Jazz Brunch & More!

She fit right in with the atmosphere of class, righteousness, and genuine community embrace that we are working so hard to cultivate each month.

Mrs. Craney, her #1 supporter Mr. Craney, her ageless mother, and their entire family and circle of friends have an OPEN INVITATION to join us each and every month! ❤️

Thank you for being with us, for sharing your presence, and for adding to the spirit of community that makes these gatherings so special.

We look forward to seeing you again soon!
